2024 Faculty Senate Election Results

Effective Date

On May 20, 2024, the Faculty Senate unanimously passed a motion to certify the results of the 2024 Faculty Senate elections that have been submitted to date from college governance bodies.

The following nominations from College of Science and Engineering and Western Libraries were approved: Jim Cooper (Biology) and Gabe Gossett (Libraries).

Background

Section 12 of the Faculty Senate Bylaws creates an annual process by which elections are conducted. Under this process, the Appointments and Elections Officer must submit a proposed election schedule and distribution list for approval by the Faculty Senate during the Winter Quarter, with elections to be conducted by college governance bodies and certified by the Faculty Senate during the Spring Quarter.

The distribution of Senate seats by college and area are determined annually using a formula set forth in the Senate bylaws. There were no proposed changes to the college voting areas distributions for 2024, with a total of nine seats to be included in the 2024 election, as follows:

As of May 20, 2024, the College of Science and Engineering and Western Libraries have forwarded their election results to the Faculty Senate for certification. Any additional election results forwarded to the Senate by June 3, 2024 will be certified at its June 3 meeting.

Senate Action

A motion to certify the nominations of Jim Cooper (Biology) and Gabe Gossett (Libraries) to the Faculty Senate was made by Appointments and Elections Officer Shevell Thibou and seconded. The motion was unanimously approved.
