Academic Standing (Scholarship Standards) Policies
Effective Date
October 28, 2024.
Background
Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management Shelli Soto has raised the concern that the current academic standing policy has resulted in a situation where College in the High School (CiHS) students are put on academic probation or even dismissed before they even enroll as matriculating students.
This issue was a discussion item at the October 14, 2024 Faculty Senate meeting.
The proposed new policy would address this issue by separating matriculated students and non-matriculating students, such as college in the high school students. For non ventricular students who is quarterly gpa for three quarters of enrollment they would not be allowed to enroll in additional coursework unless admitted as a matriculated student.
Senate Action
On October 28, 2024, a motion was made by Senate Vice-President/President-Elect Erika McPhee-Shaw to approve the proposed revision to the Academic Standing Policy for non-matriculating students, and was seconded. The motion passed by a vote of 22 yes, one abstention.
