Art Studio Courses and Credit Hour Standards

On April 22, 2025, ACC Commissioners discussed clarifying current practice, how art studio courses meet the ACC Policy on Credit Hour standards, and possible revisions to the current policy. Because art studio courses do not follow the typical lab/lecture format, there has been confusion surrounding scheduling, course syllabi, and new course requests. The Chair reported that she has worked to meet with the chair of the Art Department, but scheduling issues have prevented that. Therefore, draft language has been developed based on previous discussions. It was pointed out that some studio courses currently are lecture and some are lab, and those should be cleaned up. 

On April 22, a motion to approve the revised language by Betsy Raymond, and seconded, was approved unanimously.
