Certification of Additional Senators for AY 2025-2027 Term

Background

Section 12 of the Faculty Senate Bylaws creates an annual process by which elections are conducted. Under this process, the Appointments and Elections Officer must submit a proposed election schedule and distribution list for approval by the Faculty Senate during the Winter Quarter, with elections to be conducted by college governance bodies and certified by the Faculty Senate during the Spring Quarter. 

On February 10, 2025, the Faculty Senate approved its 2025 election schedule and distribution of Senate seats, which are determined annual using a formula set forth in the Senate bylaws. Under this formula, there was a gain of one seat each for CHSS-HUM and CHSS-SBS and a loss of one seat each for CBE and CENV.

On May 19, On May 19, the Senate approved by consent a motion by Michael Slouber (At-Large), and seconded, to certify the following senators for the AY 2025-2027 term.

Area A - CSE

  • Camilo Ponton (Geology)
  • Catherine Clark (Chemistry)
  • Ramahda Piyadi Gamage (Mathematics)
  • Terek Algeddawy (Engineering and Design)
  • Junaid Khan (EECE, Physics and Astronomy)

Area F - Fairhaven

  • Yanara Friedland

Area H - WCE

  • Sondra Cuban (Health and Community Studies)

Graduate School

  • Tim Bruce

Senate Action

On June 2, 2025, the following additional Senators representing Area B (CHSS-SBS) were certified for the AY 2025-2027 Senate Term:

  • Ron Helms (Sociology)
  • Tesla Monson (Anthropology, Political Science)
  • Brianna Delker (Psychology)
  • Nick Washburn (HHS-Communication Sciences)

Remaining Senators (new seat for CHSS-HUM, new seat for CHSS-SBS, and one CENV seat) will be certified in Fall Quarter.
