CUE GUR Review and PEJ Recommendations Task Force Charge

Faculty Senate approved October 13, 2025.

Background

On May 29, 2025, the Committee on Undergraduate Education approved a GUR Review and PEJ Recommendations Task Force Charge which would establish a two-year process for revising Western's GUR purpose, offerings, and assessment process. The workplan includes the following:

  • AY 2025-26
    • Rewrite the ACGM/BCGM goals and descriptions
    • Refine the GUR structure
    • Establish a Writing Proficiency Requirement purpose statement and policy
  • AY 2026-27
    • Reimagine ACOM, BCOM, and CCOM

ACC members discussed a draft of the proposed charge on May 20, and feedback from ACC members was incorporated into the final version approved by CUE.

ACC and Senate Action

On October 7, 2025, a motion by Elizabeth Stephan (and seconded) to approve the task force charge was approved unanimously.

On October 13, 2025, a motion to approve the CUE GUR Review and PEJ Recommendations Task Force Charge was made by James Ray (and seconded). The motion was approved by a vote of 22 yes, two no, three abstentions.
