Departmental Vehicle Parking Rate Increase

At the January 13, 2025 Faculty Senate meeting, Senator Camilo Ponton (CSE) conveyed a message from the Geology Department about the increase in departmental vehicle parking rates. There was a message on December 16 that the rates would increase significantly effective January 15. This increase was approved by the Board of Trustees (BoT) without previous communication or input, and results in a cost of up to $4,000 a year to the Geology Department for university-owned vans (10% of its operating budget). 

A motion made by Steven Garfinkle (CBE), and seconded, for the Senate to raise this issue to the BoT and request that the increase be held in abeyance until there is consultation, was unanimously approved.
