Presidential Strategic Enrollment Growth Initiative Pilot Program
Effective Date
ACC approved April 14, 2026.
Approved by Faculty Senate via ACC minutes on May 4, 2026.
Background
On November 5, 2025, the Faculty Senate Executive Council sent a letter to the Provost, copied to the President and Vice Provost for Enrollment Management, expressing serious concerns about shared governance with respect to the Presidential Strategic Growth Initiative. The letter, which was shared with the full Senate on November 10, 2025, also recommended pathways for moving forward. These included a request that ACC approve the initiative as a temporary pilot program and ensure that shared governance procedures would be followed with respect to changes in admissions standards and policies.
ACC Action
On April 14, 2026, a motion by Tara Perry (and seconded) to approve the following ACC Policy on the President’s Strategic Enrollment Growth Initiative passed unanimously:
ACC Policy on President’s Strategic Enrollment Growth Initiative
- Endorses the President’s Strategic Enrollment Growth Initiative as a pilot program for AY 2025-26 and AY 2026-27;
- Expects that following the end of the pilot, the President/Provost will work with the Faculty Senate (as required by the Faculty Handbook sec. 7.1 and the CBA secs. 3.1 and 3.2) to make any changes to admissions standards and policies.
During discussion on the motion, concerns were raised regarding student retention and support, given cuts to student support services. There was discussion about the types of metrics that will be used to measure the success of the pilot program.
