Temporary Policy on Course Scheduling and Delivery at Olympic College-Poulsbo

Effective Date

ACC approved February 18, 2025.

To be forwarded to Faculty Senate on March 10, 2025 via submission of minutes.

Background

The construction schedule at Olympic College is presenting an emergent and significant challenge to the scheduling and delivery of Western Washington University courses at the Poulsbo campus for Spring 2025. As a result, the following temporary policy is proposed for Spring 2025.

Class Scheduling

Construction will limit access to instructional space for four colleges and six academic programs that have classes scheduled for the spring academic term. Access will be limited to three available classrooms during the day, which will result in several classes having to move to evening class times.

Course Delivery

The construction also will impact the delivery method of several courses. ACC will allow the delivery method of courses originally scheduled face-to-face to move to hybrid and/or online synchronous without the required approval via the curriculum approval process. ACC recommends any online component of a hybrid course be synchronous.

A program that chooses to change a scheduled face-to-face course to hybrid with asynchronous online content or 100 percent online asynchronous content MUST submit a Request for Permanent or Temporary Course Modality proposal if the course hasn't already been approved for hybrid or online. College approval and submission to ACC Exec deadline will be Tuesday, Feb. 25.

ACC has also requested the registration start date for students at the Poulsbo campus location be delayed until the first day of Phase II registration on March 11.

Impacted Colleges and Programs

  • College of the Environment: Environmental Sciences Extension; Environmental Studies Extension; Natural Resource Management (Extension)
  • College of Business and Economics: Business Administration – General Concentration
  • College of Science and Engineering: Cybersecurity
