Applications Open for Faculty Senate Deputy Budget Representative

The Faculty Senate is seeking applications for the AY 2024-25 Deputy Budget Representative, who will move into the Budget Representative position for AY 2025-26.

This academic year, the Senate voted to move its University budget-related work to the Senate Executive Council and the full Faculty Senate by creating two new positions: a Budget Representative and a Deputy Budget Representative.

Both serve a one-year term, with the Deputy stepping into the Budget Representative position at the end of their term. Allison Giffen, the most recent UPRC chair, is the current Budget Representative. Kristi Tyran, the current Deputy Budget representative, will serve as Budget Representative for AY 2024-25.

The central work of these two critical positions is to provide advocacy, transparency, and communication, and to represent budget-related faculty perspectives, questions, and concerns to the administration. Both the Budget Representative and the Deputy also serve on the University Budget Committee. Details about key duties can be found on the Faculty Senate University Budget Representative page.

The application deadline is Friday, May 24, and the Faculty Senate will vote to select a finalist at its June 3 meeting.
